Approach:
Our approach is based on Grisha Stewart’s protocol called BAT 2.0. Her book Behaviour Adjustment Training 2.0: New Practical Techniques for Fear, Frustration, and Aggression. It is available in paperback or as an e-book. It is an excellent book and will give you a detailed perspective of what we do in the Canine Calm lessons. Don’t be put off by the title of the book; the reason why we approach it this way is based on our observation of the dogs. We admit that this is tricky; each dog is unique; however, we see the same thing often; a dog that needs more skills, but the skills they are lacking the most are general coping skills.
Additional resources: As part of your program you will receive access to various videos and materials pertaining to dogs that have a hard time coping with over-arousal or fear. These resources will give you a better understanding of the theory behind the practical experience you will get during classes with your instructors.
After completing your 6 outdoor lessons you may continue to attend the outdoor lessons, register in the advanced outdoor sessions or join the indoor program called Canine Peace. At this time Canine Peace is offered a few times per year (4 set dates in a row).
