Bright Puppy

Course Details:
This class centers around providing interesting and creative social situations for young puppies prior to 20 weeks of age. The socializing window for puppies ends between 16-20 weeks of age. Prior to 20 weeks of age, you want to expose your puppy in a safe way, to as many positive training experiences as you can. The experiences are concentrated here and you have professional staff helping you deal with any problems that arise.

Puppies are allowed playtime to learn how to properly play and socialize with pups of all sizes, to learn bite inhibition and to learn appropriate play behaviours.
Puppies are introduced to a variety of sounds and novel experiences such as bouncing balls, grooming tables, hula hoops, thunderstorm sounds, musical instruments, balance boards, etc. to encourage problem solving skills, trust in their human partners and the ability to cope in new situations.

Puppies are handled properly by everyone in the class – people of all ages, all shapes and sizes, all manners of dress (hats, beards, etc.) – to learn that everyone is safe and that handling is safe. We want puppies to accept handling by strangers so that they do not feel defensive when they are in stressful situations such as the vet clinic or the groomers or, during an emergency.

Handlers are encouraged to help their dogs learn through reward based training that creates a training bond built on trust and cooperation.

Bright Puppy classes run twice weekly for an hour each lesson. Every lesson is different! We enroll you and your pup in one class time and once enrolled you may attend as many or as few classes as you are available for (I.e if you are registered Tuesdays you attend as many Tuesdays as you can).

Registration includes Puppy Playtime, enrolment in Let’s Go! starting when puppy is over 5 months of age, and all of the Bright Puppy classes you can attend prior to your puppy’s 5 month birthday.

Problem solving for all things puppy: housetraining, jumping up, mouthing, chewing, loose leash walking, recalls, and manners are taught in this program.

Class size is unlimited and usually includes 15-30 puppies. Classes are run with 3 Instructors per lesson and 2-3 Training Coaches. During Playtime all puppies play together and during training the class breaks up into smaller groups of 10 or less.
